We want you to enjoy your beautiful blooms for as long as possible! Fresh flowers are natural and delicate, and a little care can help extend their vase life.

 

Fresh Flower Arrangements

To keep your arrangement looking fresh:

• Check the water daily. Flowers drink more water than you may expect, especially during the first few days.

• Add fresh, clean water whenever the water level becomes low.

• Keep flowers in a cool location away from direct sunlight.

• Avoid placing flowers near heating vents, fireplaces, fans, or air-conditioning vents.

• Keep arrangements away from ripening fruits and vegetables, which naturally release gases that can shorten the life of fresh flowers.

• Remove wilted flowers and leaves as needed.

If your arrangement is designed in floral foam, gently add water to the container each day to keep the foam moist. Pour slowly to avoid overflowing.

 

Wrapped Bouquets

If you receive one of our hand-wrapped bouquets:

1. Remove the wrapping when you are ready to place the flowers in a vase.

2. Use a clean vase filled with fresh water.

3. Trim approximately ½–1 inch from the bottom of each stem at an angle using clean, sharp floral shears or scissors.

4. Remove any leaves that would sit below the waterline.

5. Place the flowers in fresh water immediately after trimming.

6. Change the water every 2–3 days and re-trim the stems when possible.

 

Roses

Roses love clean water. Keep the vase filled and check the water level every day.

If possible, re-cut the stems at an angle every few days and place them back into fresh water. Remove any foliage that falls below the waterline.

The outer petals of some roses, sometimes called guard petals, may naturally look different from the inner petals. These petals help protect the rose during handling and are not necessarily a sign that the flower is old or damaged.

 

Lilies

Lilies may arrive with some blooms still closed. This is normal and allows you to enjoy them as they gradually open.

Once the lilies open, you may carefully remove the pollen-bearing anthers to help prevent pollen stains.

Please note: Many true lilies (Lilium species) are highly toxic to cats. If you have cats in your home, keep lilies completely out of their reach and consider choosing a lily-free arrangement.

 

Hydrangeas

Hydrangeas are especially thirsty flowers. Make sure they always have plenty of fresh water.

If they begin to wilt prematurely, re-cut the stems and return them to clean water as soon as possible.

 

Flower Food

If flower food is provided with your bouquet, follow the instructions on the packet and mix it with the recommended amount of clean water. Using too much flower food is not better, so always follow the package directions.

 

How Long Will My Flowers Last?

Fresh flowers are natural products, so their vase life varies depending on the flower variety, freshness, temperature, environment, and care they receive. Some varieties naturally last longer than others, and individual blooms within the same arrangement may open or fade at different times. Removing older blooms as they fade can help keep the rest of your arrangement looking beautiful.
